Kindle Case With Flower How To

I was released from my calling in the Young Women's program a few weeks ago. I bawled like a little baby as soon as I heard. Uncontrollably. Very embarrassing since it was 5 minutes before sacrament started. I grew so close to those girls in the short time I was with them. One girl in particular. She reminds me of me at that age (poor thing). I've been wanting to do something for this girl and didn't know what. Today I saw her reading her Kindle. A naked Kindle. Ding, ding, ding! Idea received. I made her a case using some polka dot fabric (the polka dot obsession continues) and felt. For the finishing touch I made a felt flower.

Here is a quick how to for the flower-
Trace four circles on to your felt. Make sure it's a good quality thick felt. I bought mine by the yard at Joann's. Make each circle a little bigger than the first. I traced a quarter for my smallest one and worked up from there.

Then cut them out. Here you can see the gradual size difference.

Cut little slits towards the center of each circle all the way around. Don't cut in too far or they won't stay together. If your felt isn't the best of quality the "petals" will come off when tugged on.

Place each circle on top of each other and sew them together going back and forth through the middle a few times. Or hot glue it. Whatever floats your boat.

Have I mentioned the main floor of my house is a bit cave like with 8 foot ceilings and windows only on one side. Makes for terrible picture taking. Frustrating...

Fluff your petals to make them purty then add some embellishments and you are done. I used a fabric cover brad that I cut the prongs off of and glued it to the center. I also hand cut a couple felt leaves and stitched around the outside.

The front of the case has a pocket and the top has a velcro closure. I attempted making a tutorial for the actual case but was in a hurry and it was my first attempt which meant it too some time to figure out. If anybody would like a tut let me know and I'll whip one up.
