My little family have lived in our house for about three years. We are to the point now where we can start working on making our house into a home. We've been slowly working on the living room and just need a few more pieces to have it just how we want it. Now I'm onto planning out the master bedroom. My husband's only stipulation is that I had to do a mood board before getting started. I've never done a mood board before. That's probably why I change my mind a million times and end up disliking something I've done along the way.
So here it is. My first mood board:
Not the prettiest mood board ever but you get the picture.
This is the quilt I recently picked up at Target (thanks to a birthday gift card from my sis) as well as the two pillows photographed above. I couldn't find any of them online so you get the photo I took with my phone. I uploaded it to Chip It and here are the colors it suggested. It has gray in it as well with gray stripes on the backside but my phone must have not picked that up.
We also have the wingback chair in a coordinating blue already. The headboard and the smaller blue dresser that I'm thinking of using for nightstands are from Gardner Village.
I put together my mood board a week or two ago and have been letting it simmer. The gray paint is a possibility though now I am thinking of going darker...
Here is what we are liking when it comes to lamps. Some are a little spendy for us but maybe they'll go on sale? We'll see.
I just picked this dresser up last night. I've been planning on painting whatever dresser we ended up getting red like the one in my mood board. However at 4.5 feet long red is sounding a little much. Any suggestions? Here are some options I'm thinking of doing...
Here is the one from my mood board. Love it in every way. It's a nice deep red. Maybe my nightstands should try on some red instead...
I love this dresser redone in Old White chalk paint. My husband is pushing for a creamy white and I do think it's a great possibility. Definitely staining the top though.
Or maybe a nice splash of mustard yellow. I do love me some red and mustard yellow. Thus the reason the quilt was perfect. :)
Opinions? Serious amounts of input? Anybody? Overhead lighting suggestions?
Big dresser, white with red drawers or red with white drawers. Keep the nightstands blue. That's gorgeous. And use the mustard yellow lamp. #1. Use the yellow just a little and it will have so much more impact. I love the gray walls idea. Stunning. I agree with waiting to decorate. After 7 years my house finally started telling me what it was meant to do. Or maybe I finally started to listen.
ReplyDeleteI love it all! I think the white chalk for the bigger dresser for sure. Red for the nightstands and then pull the mustard yellow in with accents, like maybe the lamp? So many fun things. Now I just need Richard to stick to a mood board. Or perhaps I should just start doing things? Umm...we shall see.
ReplyDeleteThey all look great! I like the white chalk paint too and the yellow nightstand. I think you should save the pop of red for the lamps! Can't wait to see what you pick and the final results...Thanks for sharing at Gettin' Krafty!
ReplyDeleteThe red looks great! It appears as if the piece was first covered in a deep red to dry, then dry brushed with some black and immediately wiped off with a clean rag to get that subtle aged look.
