Numbered Bean Bags

A while back I made my son some shaped bean bags. This week my sister-in-law and I made numbered bean bags for our girls. I'm hoping it's a great way to practice some simple adding and subtracting for my soon-to-be kindergartner...plus, help my son with him number recognition in the process.

We cut the fabric squares out at 4.5 inches. All the fabrics but one (the brown polka dots) are from Riley Blake's Alphabet Soup line. The numbers were applied using freezer paper and my Cricut. We used the same freezer paper for her set and mine. I wouldn't recommend it. The second set bled a lot more than it did on the first.

  1. What a smart learning activity. Boys are so often kinetic learners. I found this sort of thing works very well if you call out the number names as you're throwing and catching. The action reinforces the concept in their memories.
