Mini Me Half Apron

So much for not posting all that often...

It's another year of handmade gifts. With such a large family (my husband is oldest of nine and I'm from a family of five kids) it's a must to not kill our budget. Plus it gives me an excuse to try new things and take time to craft my heart out.

I made this half apron for my niece who just turned three. Happy birthday Clarie!! My four year old is modeling it for us. The fabrics are from the October Afternoon Riley Blake Farm Fresh Farmhouse line. I cut a rectangle out of both fabrics (it's lined with the red and white gingham) that measures 10 X 16.5 inches. I then folded both fabrics in half length wise and used a bowl to round the corners. The pleated ruffle bias tape trim I purchased by the yard at Hobby Lobby. It made this project extra fast and easy. It's around both sides and the bottom leaving the top open. I then cut out a strip of the gingham 6 inches wide by the length of my fabric and made it into a large bias tape. I found the middle of my bias tape and  apron pining the bias tape in place. At this point I sewed the length and the sides creating the top casing and the ties. Hope that makes sense. I'm not an expert at sewing by any means and don't know all the fancy terms but hopefully you get the gist of it.
