Yesterday was my nieces second birthday and here is what I made for her.
Of course I appliqued something and I also made her a toddler size trick-or-treat bag/purse.
I bought the witch shoe applique from this etsy shop.
For the bag I somewhat followed this tutorial but I switched a lot up and made it a kid friendly size. I cut the straps 4"X16" and the panels for the bag at 9.5"X21". I used a little less than a fourth a yard in both fabrics (the inside is lined with the same fabric as the flowers made out of).
The ruffle is 4" X the length of my fabric and the pleated ruffle is 3" X the length or my fabric. You can see how to make a pleated ruffle here. I measured two inches down from the top of my bad and drew a line. That's where the top of my ruffle started and the pleated ruffle overlapped that. I just cut off any excess after getting the ruffles how I'd like them.
I think the birthday girl liked them. She carried the bag around with her baby doll shoved in it the rest of the evening. Happy birthday cutie!
Oh how cute, love the shoes on the shirt. I would love for you to share at Bacon Time a weekly fri-mon linky, come strut your stuff.
