So, I started this dresser forever ago. It's for my son's room. I didn't take a before photo (I didn't have this blog at that point) but here is a pic of the original drawer pulls. The whole dresser was the same color. Varnish peeling off and all.
Why did it take me so long to finish it?
Because it was the first piece of furniture I ever painted and this happened. The paint stayed sticky. It took four coats of paint and after finishing the stupid paint would cling to whatever I sat on it. I also didn't purchase enough drawer pulls. Super frustrating! I just started piling his clothes on top of the dresser instead of putting them inside. I'm stubborn like that.
What made me decide to give it another shot?
This stuff. Sadly, I'd had it all along for paper crafting too! Lame sauce. At least I finally figured it out and finished the job...after purchasing some more drawer pulls at Hobby Lobby It's lookin' good and I'm feeling the pull to get the rest of the room finished.
I must say the drawer pulls are boy-a-rific! And I just might get a photo in the picture frame someday and some more accessories...
I do have the name of the paint too but I'm not running my bunnies clear down in the creepy unfinished basement at this time of night to look it up.
Well, that's it for tonight. Thanks for stopping in!
Very boy-fab!
ReplyDeleteyour bunnies? hahahaha!! That's one cool dresser! I like the tall side cupboard thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be a tower where you put diapers, wipes, and other changing needs (which we do) and the other side is where you can change them. The plan was to make a pad and use it but now that he's almost 16 months he aint fittin' there. Darn procrastination!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I love the "bunnies" part too! I also love this dresser, the color, the pulls and the tall side. Good job Lease. (I don't know how to spell Lis to make it sound like Lease :) xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I love the color too :)
ReplyDeleteI hate when something just stays sticky! I have had this happen too, it is the worst. I use to use poly until I recently discovered paste wax -- it is the best! It makes furniture so incredibly smooth!
ReplyDeleteI love the dresser, the knobs are adorable!
Thank you Erika! I'll be trying out paste wax. :)
