Try Something New- Recipes

Remember when I was semi descent at taking a photo back in the film days? Ya, I miss that.

So this week was pretty crazy so as far as my goal of trying something new went it only happened in food. Last night I made Southwestern White Chili (pg. 578- Better Homes & Garden New Cook Book). We had another family over for dinner (a.k.a. my SIL Alyson, Jon, and girls) that had mentioned they love White Chili...which of course made me want some. Well, my mama makes some dang good chili so I thought I'd try it. I should have called her for her recipe.

I was in such a rush I didn't pay attention to the recipe. This is a healthy girl "I'm try to loose weight" kind of recipe. Not what I was going for at all. So I improvised (I do it a lot) adding the Monterrey Jack cheese straight to the broth (went a little overboard) and added some cream. Fatty deliciousness.

It wasn't as fabulous as my mom's chili but I wasn't ashamed either.

I also made these yummy Chocolate Caramel Filled cookies. Rolo's stuffed inside? Sign me up!

One other recipe I tried was a Chile Rellenos Casserole (pg. 141- Better Homes & Garden New Cook Book). We ate the whole pan so it must have been a hit. When it says to get two big chili's I believe the ones I picked up at the local super market didn't measure up. I just noticed I used the wrong size pan too. No wonder they were thinner then I'd hoped for. All part of the process of trying something new while lacking sleep.

I've got a lot of new things planned for next week I can't wait to try out. One of them- a few friends and I are signing up for Zumba classes!! Hope I don't break anything. ;) (edit- it's Zumba, not Rumba, right...)

Didn't know you could make it so that you get e-mails when someone comments. What a fabulous invention!
