Valentine's Day Banner (Mini Tutorial)

Valentine's Day banner, hearts, lace, handmade, tutorial

I do love to make banners. I made this one a few weeks ago and thought I'd do a mini tutorial on how I made the pieced heart.

I used three coordinating fat quarters and cut out four 1.5-inch strips from each.

I then sewed them together using a 1/4-inch seam allowance.

It will come out looking a little something like this. Iron down all your seams.

If you're making your hearts for a banner like I did, choose what size you want your squares (mine are 5.5"). Cut out a square of paper a half-inch smaller than your fabric square, fold it in half, and cut out a heart shape. I then used a vanishing ink marker to trace hearts on to the right side of the fabric. I staggered mine so they'd all look a little bit different.

Cut out your hearts and their you have it. To attached it to your banner square or other project, use Wonder Under or pin it.

Then sew around the perimeter to finish it off.

I can't seem to stick to one holiday at a time. Christmas project coming up soon!
