Shaped Beanbags for Lil' Boys
I showed you some beanbag fish I made for favors for my son's 2nd birthday party awhile back. Well here are the bean bags I first made that have applique numbers on them. I just made simpler versions for the favors.
These are gifts for a couple of active two year old boys. They are made out of felt and stuffed with rice. I just drew myself a template and cut two out for each bean bag. Applique the numbers on using Heat n' Bond. Sew around the perimeter leaving a small opening so you can stuff them with rice or beans and then sew the opening closed. They can also be used as hand warmers by popping them in the microwave.
I then made drawstring bags to hold them. I followed a tutorial for the first one but obviously didn't read it through very well before starting. It's a lined bag but there is still an inside seam. What's that?! So I won't be linking to that tutorial since I didn't dig it. The second one I guessed on and got it right. Lesson learned- sometime using a tutorial instead of just using commonsense is not the way to go. :)
Those little cars are too cute! Guess it's time for me to start stocking up on the "boy" fabric too.

ReplyDeleteOh My goodness those are so CUTE especially those little FISH.. :) I would love for you to share them at http://shoprubyjean.com/2011/12/sew-crafty-tuesday-linky-party1/
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I love the fish . . . I wonder if I have enough time to whip some up before Christmas? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love those. And I totally know what you mean by skipping the tutorial sometimes. I tried two different projects with tutorials this week, and ended up completely ruining one, and having to pick out the seams on the other one and fixing it my own way! :) I love the fish, and I love the numbers appliqued on them. I've seen bean bags with the letters of the child's name, but these would be better for ready to wrap gifts and baby gifts whose names are tba! Thanks for the idea!
