I'm happy with how it turned out. I mean it's a toy box for a 20-month-old's room. It's going to be colored on and sat in. You really can't go wrong. I also like that it has a lot of character with nail holes and a couple chips. It's a heck of a lot better then the laundry basket his toys resided in previously by far too.
Here's a quick "how to" for anyone interested. I used chipboard and cut out a couple cloud shaped templates. I then used a cheap dollar store brush that I wasn't worried about ruining. I painted the panels with one coat of the blue paint going with the grain and leaving it streaky.
Get a little bit of paint on your brush and then blot it out on a paper towel to get most of the paint off. Start at the top and use your paint brush just like you would stenciling, lightly dabbing across the top of your cloud template.
After your do your first application, move your template down and continue the same steps. After your last application, without adding more paint, dab the entire area to smooth everything out.
And that's it. As always thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow I'll have a update on the master bath. It's coming along very slowly. :)
So stinkin' cute! You always find the coolest things. We need to go garage selling soon!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Did you paint the lid?
ReplyDeleteThis turned out darling! good job! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't actually a lid. I'm still not sure what that other piece is. It was a lip at one end and covers it about a third of the way.
ReplyDeleteI want to hit some yard sales together! We'll have to set something up. :)
Maybe paint it similar to the box and hang it on the wall in his room. That would be cute. Just a thought.

This is adorable! I'm currently redecorating my 21 month old son's room into an airplane room. Unfortunately we have no room for a toy box.
